چکیده

mobiTopp is an agent-based travel demand modelling framework designed in a modular fashion, so that exchange of individual modules is easy. This offers the possibility to start with quite simple models and implement the system in practice while at the same time providing the opportunity to develop more sophisticated models for research that can eventually be transferred into practice. Also, practical experience with the system can drive the need for further research. So the system helps bridging the gap between research and practice. The paper presents a detailed overview of mobiTopp’s structure and its modules. The practical applicability for large-scale simulations is demonstrated by an example of a study involving about 2.5 million agents. c © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Modeling travel demand over a period of one week: The mobiTopp model

When mobiTopp was initially designed, more than 10 years ago, it has been the first travel demand simulation model intended for an analysis period of one week. However, the first version supported only an analysis period of one day. This paper describes the lessons learned while extending the simulation period from one day to one week. One important issue is ensuring realistic start times of ac...

Application of Discrete 3-level Nested Logit Model in Travel Demand Forecasting as an Alternative to Traditional 4-Step Model

This paper aims to introduce a new modelling approach that represents departure time, destination and travel mode choice under a unified framework. Through it, it is possible to overcome shortages of the traditional 4-step model associated with the lack of introducing actual travellers’ behaviours. This objective can be achieved through adopting discrete 3-level Nested Logit model that represen...

Literature Review of Traffic Assignment: Static and Dynamic

Rapid urban growth is resulting into increase in travel demand and private vehicle ownership in urban areas. In the present scenario the existing infrastructure has failed to match the demand that leads to traffic congestion, vehicular pollution and accidents. With traffic congestion augmentation on the road, delay of commuters has increased and reliability of road network has decreased. Four s...

Modelling Departure Time, Destination and Travel Mode Choices by Using Generalized Nested Logit Model: Discretionary Trips (Research Note)

Despite traditional four-step model is the most prominent model in majority of travel demand analysis, it does not represent the potential correlations within different travel dimensions. As a result, some researches have suggested the use of choice modelling instead. However, most of them have represented travel dimensions individually rather than jointly. This research aims to fill this gap t...

Data-driven Travel Demand Modelling and Agent-based Traffic Simulation in Amsterdam Urban Area

The goal of this project is the development of a large-scale agent-based traffic simulation system for Amsterdam urban area, validated on sensor data and adjusted for decision support in critical situations and for policy making in sustainable city development, emission control and electric car research. In this paper we briefly describe the agent-based simulation workflow and give the details ...
